mandarin, I don't know how it feels to be pried with fingers that aren't yours by the time I tasted you you were bruised and overripe having straddled fences that I believe were only miniseries' inventions eventually, you burst little pulpy pieces stuck between my teeth droplets of juice collecting under my chin the rancid intermingling with the pure but still, your seed reaches the ground and this amazes me

about

In the fall of 1995, after releasing our first album "Robert's Pipe Dream" and going on a summer hiatus, Claude's Dog returned to my aunt Judy's basement and began writing and rehearsing songs for our next LP in earnest. With all of us now in our senior year of high school, we squeezed in practices and shows whenever our schedules allowed, often debuting several new tunes each time we played a gig.

The following spring, we teamed up with Todd Fogle, drummer of Mid Carson July and a recording engineer with a makeshift 16-track studio in a converted barn. For the princely sum of $175, Todd recorded and mixed fifteen songs that we'd written over the previous nine months, some so new that we were finishing up lyrics moments before tracking. As with our previous record, we printed up some inserts on cardstock, daisy-chained tape decks together, and began prepping for its release.

We called the album "Judy Days" in honor of my aunt, our main benefactor and biggest supporter (fitting, given we'd already named our nascent record label Aunt Judy Records). We played our final show on May 25, 1996, selling a few dozen cassettes at three bucks a pop and finishing up our two-year run with many friends and fellow musicians at our beloved community center. I feel fortunate that we were able to document these songs, and am happy to share them now, a quarter of a century later. As always, I hope you enjoy it.
